Latest News & Market Commentary on
Geopolitical & Trade Developments
Rubio: The U.S. is shifting its approach toward sanctions rather than additional military strikes against Iran for the time being.
Fed’s Barkin: Warned that if U.S. debt continues to rise, investors could eventually become less willing to buy Treasury securities.
Oman & Iran: The two countries have proposed a temporary shipping corridor and mine-clearing framework to improve safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Canada: Canada has raised tariffs on approximately $20 billion of U.S. products, including doubling tariffs on U.S. steel products from 25% to 50%.
Canada is also preparing a C$7.5 billion support package for businesses and workers affected by the new U.S. tariffs.
Fundamental Effect: Gold & Bitcoin
These developments are supportive of Gold and Bitcoin, but through different channels.
Earlier, sanctions and geopolitical tensions generally supported Gold as investors sought a traditional safe-haven asset. In today’s 2026 market environment, however, international transactions can increasingly use digital assets such as Bitcoin, while Gold continues to retain importance as a physical store of value and for local/regional settlement.
Therefore, continued sanctions, geopolitical uncertainty and a renewed U.S.βCanada tariff conflict can provide a fundamental supportive backdrop for both Gold and Bitcoin.
Overall effect: Bullish for Gold.
Gold & Silver Market Commentary
Yesterday, Gold made a low of $4,605, from where we had identified a BUY opportunity, and subsequently moved higher to a high of $4,672.
Silver also made a low around $67.50, close to our previously mentioned BUY level of $67.71.
For today, we expect a similar pattern to continue, with the market potentially entering a jobbing/range-bound phase for the next 3β4 days as traders wait for fresh fundamental news.
At the same time, Silver continues to trade at relatively discounted levels. Any fresh positive catalyst could therefore trigger another strong upside move in Silver.
